New China A-Shares ETF for Singapore Investors

An additional choice now for Singapore investors via the latest China A-shares ETF addition by UOB Asset Management.

To be listed on 12 November 2009, the United FTSE/Xinhua China A50 ETF will be the first China A-shares ETF to be denominated and traded in Singapore Dollars. Details here on the A50 index tracking the largest 50 A-share companies on the Shanghai & Shenzhen exchanges.

A close cousin on SGX is the db x-trackers FTSE/Xinhua China 25 ETF but denominated in USD (and tracks the A25 index reflecting the top 25 Chinese shares on the HongKong exchange). Or some investors might have opted for the NYSE iShares equivalent (FXI) or the HK Exchange listed equivalent (2838:HK).

With more ETFs being launched and listed on SGX (covering various regional markets) plus its fast growing popularity as an investment tool of choice, it can only be a good thing for the consumer. More choices, more competition, greater value in time to come.
