AIG old, Chartis new

AIG is shedding its skin. The general insurance arm of AIG is taking on a new name.

American Home Assurance Company, Singapore Branch (AHA), being an AIG company will be rebranded to Chartis on 18 January 2010. This reflects the company's brand alignment with the worldwide operations of Chartis, Inc. (refer to Bloomberg article 27 July 2009)

The launch of Chartis in Singapore is held in conjunction with its office relocation to the CHARTIS Building at 78 Shenton Way. At present, they are located at AIG Building 22 Martin Road.

The only immediate change is in the new brand name and address. Current AIG policyowners can count on AHA/Chartis in terms of their insurance policy commitment to you remains unchanged.

The name Chartis is derived from the Greek word for map. It was chosen because it signifies the company's ability to help clients and customers chart a course through today's complex business environment.

The new Chartis remains the largest General Insurance Company in Singapore with more than S$740million* in assets as at 30 Sept 2009. Their ability to pay claims has not changed; and they handled more than 121,000 new claims cases with more than S$240M* claims paid in 2009. (* figures sourced from AHA)
